The Cypress coffee cup combines a deeper earthy brown with gold flecks, like leaves just starting to turn. Handmade in Japan, with a uniqueness you can feel. The organic glaze gives the cup a tactile, slightly rough texture.

Also known as a chawan or matcha bowl — this handle-less Japanese coffee cup suits coffee, tea, and matcha equally well.

Why this coffee cup?

  • Handmade in Japan: each piece is slightly different due to the hand-shaping and glazing process.
  • Earthy palette: deep brown with gold flecks and a tactile, slightly rough texture.
  • Wide, open shape without a handle: suited to coffee, tea, or matcha, held with one hand at the rim.
Frequently asked questions +

What if something arrives broken?

I'll send you a free replacement. Email me within seven days with a photo of the piece and the box, and I'll arrange a replacement or a full refund. No forms.

Is it dishwasher and microwave safe?

Yes, both. Do avoid extreme temperature swings, though — a cold plate straight into a hot oven — to prevent hairline cracks in the glaze.

When will it arrive?

Ordered before 4pm, it ships the next working day from Ede. In practice your new tableware is usually in your kitchen within two working days.

Does my set differ from the photo?

Probably a little, yes. This is handwork, so differences in shape, glaze thickness and colour depth are part of it. That's not a flaw — that's why you're buying it.

Can I reorder later?

Yes. You'll find single pieces under Single pieces. If something is temporarily out of stock, sign up for a notification via the button on the product page — you'll be notified automatically as soon as it's back.

Fully suitable for daily use in the dishwasher and microwave.

Preserving the quality

  • Thermal shock: avoid extreme temperature swings (cold to hot) to prevent cracking.
  • Cutlery marks: any metal marks on the glaze come off easily with baking soda.
  • Drying: dry the pieces well after washing and store them somewhere ventilated.

Besides the “Winter” cup, the style for this cup is also one I haven’t really seen before. Obviously it’s gorgeous and it feels and looks like it was made by an artist and definitely not something I could have bought anywhere else. I would not be surprised if it turns out that some unusual glazing/crafting techniques were used to make these cups. It is more blue than it looks in the pictures but I like that.
I bought all of the cups because I really like this company and they are all excellent quality. They are hefty but not heavy, they don’t stain and are the perfect size for most of the drinks I make (mainly tea and coffee).
Would recommend these as gifts (that’s what I got some of them for) or for personal (but feeling fancy) use.
